At the heart of the board sits the RP2040 dual-core ARM Cortex-M0+ microcontroller, which handles automated timing routines, software-driven safe shutdowns, and power source switching. The onboard ETA6096 high-efficiency lithium battery charger and MP28167-A buck-boost converter deliver fast load transient response, allowing seamless continuous operation while switching between USB power and connected 3.7V lithium batteries. With an integrated PCF85063 RTC chip and an INA219 current sensor, the Raspberry Pi can monitor its own operating voltage and power consumption in real time.
